Apple-Cherry-Crisp

If I had to pick a favorite fruit crisp topping, I would have to say it’s this crisp recipe. I love the crunchy oatmeal topping and it can go over any kind of fruit like blueberries, rhubarb, strawberries or a combination of fruit like I’ve chosen here.

Ingredients:

4 – 5 apples, peeled cored and chopped
½ cup pitted cherries
½ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Topping:

2/3 cup all purpose flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
½ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter or margarine

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Mix fruit, sugar and lemon juice together. Cover bottom of buttered square 9” x 9” square cake pan with fruit mixture.

Combine flour oats sugar cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together in bowl. Cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture is crumbly.

Sprinkle topping over fruit and bake about 30-40 minutes or until done.

Serve warm with whipped cream.
